Jobs Description

- Responsible for ensuring that all MAG’s mine and UXO clearance operations are in accordance with MAG SOPs as well as other relevant national and international standards and guidelines. - Responsible for the planning, prioritisation and coordination of all the clearance and clearance support operations in MAG Cambodia to achieve maximum programme outputs. - Responsible for the safety of all staff and third parties during execution of operations. - Develop, implement and review systems, tools and procedures in relation to maximising productivity and safety, conducting risk assessment procedures to analyse risk or changes with regards to operations. - Continually ensure implementation of and review of Standard Operating Procedures, drills and other work practices. Ensure that suggestions for change are brought to the attention of the Field Operations Manager for consideration and incorporation into the SOP. - Carry out regular monitoring visits/QA checks and reports of all operations within MAG Cambodia. - Oversee the training, assessment and monitoring of all staff carrying out operations as tasked. - Ensure that all staff is aware of, understand, and adhere to all programme Standard Operating Procedures and drills, at all times. - Maintain up-to- date knowledge of mines and munitions in Cambodia. - Maintain in-depth and up-to- date knowledge of all relevant equipment within the area of responsibility. - Ensure regular maintenance and safe and appropriate storage of all necessary vehicles, technical materials and equipment with regards to operations including explosives and explosive storage areas. - Cooperate with the representatives of the Humanitarian Demining Research & Development Program (HD R&D P) and their affiliates to ensure a smooth running of the relevant MAG OFE’s. - Cooperate and follow up with the Logistics department to ensure timely request, procurement and delivery of goods and spare parts required to carry out operations. - Managing all working sites under their responsibility within the framework of MAG Cambodia SOPs, seeing every site as part of a larger system and encouraging the maximum support of teams. - Compare target outputs with actual achievements in the field, conduct a timely failure analysis and take measures to ensure that outputs are being met; initiate actions or request support to achieve this. - Continually try to improve mechanical operations, report suggestions to the line manager or to the FOM/TOM. - Continually conduct risk and threat assessments in the field. - Prepare regular reports for submission to the FOM and TOM - Ensure coordination and exchange of information to guarantee objective-driven and focused training, re- training and monitoring. - Ensure coordination with Community Liaison Officer in the planning and implementation of all operations within the area of responsibility. - Ensure that the FOM is fully briefed on all clearance activities at all times. - Prepare training plans to include schedules and lessons and to instruct initial and refresher training as required. - The Operations Officer is expected to spend at least 80% of their time in the field managing the teams under their responsibility, conducting QA/QC and ensuring that SOP’s are adhered to.

Jobs Requirement

- Minimum 3 years’ work experience as a Team Leader - Having a strong work ethic - Having the ability to plan and manage a number of concurrent activities - Having knowledge of Excel and Word would be advantageous - Sound knowledge of topography and map drawing, professional handling of compass, GPS and basic digital camera - Some knowledge and experience of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) - Well organized, proactive, flexible and trustworthy. - Able to travel extensively throughout the programme, and stay in the field as required and on occasion work long and unsociable hours. - Committed to the aims and purpose of MAG’s work.
