P*Primary - Design, implement and assess a comprehensive community neonatal heath package utilising medical and social interventions S*econdary - Reduction of neonatal mortality in Preah Vihear (PVH) province, Cambodia *Tertiary - Describe the characteristics of neonates, born in PVH province, Cambodia over a five-year time period - Develop a tool to undertake a full review of neonatal services and capabilities in PVH province, Cambodia - Design a fully comprehensive neonatal and emergency obstetric healthcare training and implementation package adapted to local need - Establish community groups to address areas of concern for the local community with respect to childbirth and the neonatal period - Develop a programme blueprint and implementation strategy for introduction of the developed programme into other locations within Cambodia - Calculate the cost-effectiveness of a neonatal community health programme and the resulting changes in care, as compared to the existing care given in the region The existing Saving Babies Lives (SBL) team comprises: 1. Local project manager 2. Data analyst 3. Team leader for teaching 4. Team leader for data collection 5. Team leader for community engagement 6. SBL Clinical Researcher Main Responsibilities: Serve as the lead clinical researcher for the Saving Babies Lives programme • Set up and monitor the research aspects of the SBL programme • Ensure Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines are followed for the SBL programme • Work with the SBL team to ensure accurate and timely collection of qualitative and quantitative data and achievement of research timeline goals for the SBL • Supervise / perform analysis of all data collected • Liaise with the data analyst to produce reports for stakeholders including but not limited to: donors, AHC management and the Cambodian Ministry of Health • Support AHC staff in developing research skills • Prepare manuscripts for publication and presentation
