-Undertaking design project from concept to completion -Defining project requirements and schedule during the “brief” -Working to a brief, which details what the space will be used for, and finding out the client's personal ideas and requirements -Work closely with the client to determine his or her goals and requirements for the project -Study the space (or the blueprints and plans for the space) to consider use and flow of people through and within the space -Collaborate with architects, builders, mechanical and structural engineers, and other members of the project team to create and implement a design plan -Create preliminary design schemes, either by hand-sketching or computer-aided design (CAD) -Delineate project specifications including materials and furnishings to be used, such as flooring, furniture, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and wall finishes • Researching and preparing plans, diagrams or sketches for interior constructions, materials, finishes, lighting and furnishing. -Selecting suppliers of materials and labour. -Estimating costs and submitting quotes for client approval. -Inspecting and surveying buildings -Negotiating fees -Setting schedules for the project -Carrying out research, to make sure that plans are technically feasible -Producing rough sketches and a mood board - a collection of suitable images, colours and materials -Advising clients on progress, and providing them with samples of paints and fabrics to be used -Supervising the work as it is carried out. -Inspecting and supervising the work of tradespeople to ensure that quality and safety standards, costs and deadlines are met. -Ensure that interior design plans comply with building codes and inspection regulations -Oversee installation of the design elements -Debrief with client after project completion to ensure that goals were met and the project was done to the customer’s satisfaction

-Proven working experience in decorating interior spaces (consultations, renovations, space planning and new constructions) -Expertise in layout, colour, lighting, materials selection, custom furniture and all installations. -Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D Max, Illustrator or other design programs -Excellent portfolio of previous works -Creative talent, imagination and eye for design -Communication and presentation skills -Project management skills -BS degree in Interior Design or similar -Creativity and imagination -An eye for design, including colour, and good 3D awareness -The ability to visualise concepts and explain them to others -Good drawing and IT skills -Good organisational skills, to ensure each project is completed on time and within budget -Awareness of technical building issues, and the range of relevant products and materials -Strong communication and negotiation skills -Confidence with figures -Ability to work independently -Self-discipline
