- Operate and coordinate the operation on shift of the power station - Responsible for being the Shiftsman on site after hours, taking full responsibility for the whole plant - Plan and coordinate with shift charge engineer to meet production goals - Investigate all problems that occur during the shift and take action to resolve such problems by implementing the necessary corrective action - At the end of the shift the unit controller shall compile a report of the following: any transient conditions that occurred during shift, any problems that was found and what action was taken to resolve, who was called out the reason for the call out and was the problem resolved, any recommendations to management that will resolve plant problems, Complete the unit log - Ensure equipment is operated in compliance with the operating standards and procedures - Conduct regular plant inspections and maintain records of plant operation - Completes shift reports as required, detailing the operation of the plant, PPE compliance and housekeeping - Ensure effective communication between shift charge engineer and the operators - Communicate with the National Control Centre - Enforce HSE rules and housekeeping standards, communicate HSE rules and expectations to workforce and investigate HSE incidents as appropriate

- Bachelor degree or suitable technical qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering - Relevant experience in a large engineering industry - Fresh graduated with strong related engineering knowledge and ability to learn fast will be considered - Extensive knowledge of turbine, boiler and electrical equipment operating procedures, codes and standards - Should be able to work in shift duties - Extensive knowledge of HV electrical switching and safety procedures - Extensive overall knowledge of power plant operations - Strong verbal and written communication skills of English for interaction with other departments - Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and react to changing priorities - Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS products (Word and Excel)
